The XII Congress of the European Foundation for Traditional Complementary and Integrative Medicine on “Efficacy, Safety and Quality of Natural Therapies” aims to promote legislation of Traditional Complementary & Integrative Medicine in Spain

HIGHLIGHTS

When the doors of the auditorium in Peñiscola (Valencia, Spain) closed on Sunday, 5th of June, three days full of educational activities, lectures, workshops and the legendary countryside trip to the nearby protected natural area dedicated to the identification of indigenous medicinal plants and their Chinese relatives were left behind.

The 12th edition of the Congress of the European Foundation of MTCI and the 2nd Congress of the Natural Therapies Foundation were in luck for several reasons.

It was possible to return to the face-to-face format, thanks to which the 173 graduates of the last three graduating classes of FEMTCI’s Advanced TCM Studies enjoyed a solemn graduation ceremony in the presence of the Rector of the European University of the Atlantic.

The lectures offered a broad content of Chinese medicine and acupuncture, osteopathy and naturopathy focused on providing evidence of the efficacy and safety and quality of natural therapies and the will to reach a true integration between complementary and conventional medicine.

FOCUS- ROUND TABLE

The highlight of the Congress was the Round table on the popular legislative initiative, where participants had the opportunity to recall the state initiative for the regulation of complementary medicines transformed into a platform for MTCI law in Spain with the aim of promoting a popular legislative initiative.

Backed by the evidentiary data on the growing use of complementary therapies and the WHO’s clear commitment to the traditional medicines, this initiative aims to regulate the TCM sector in all its aspects, including training, competencies and validation of professionals. Headed by the slogan

“For a free, plural and safe health. Because… You choose your health, naturally”,

The platform has to collect 500,000 signatures until next September to get the approval by the Spanish Congress of Deputies. So please share and join in our efforts to promote and mainstream TCM in Spain and the European Union.
